Chocolate is only one of the many surprises that God created for us to discover. Ecclesiastes 3:11a says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Only God can tuck a delightful flavor like chocolate into a bean in a pod on a tree in the rain forest!
Take some time this morning to be encouraged by God’s word. Enjoy this short devotional from Reese Kauffman.
It was a hot, humid July day. We came rolling into our 5-Day Club® location, blasting fun kids music. We were a spot of sunshine in a very dark place—dark in more ways than one. Our club was in an inner city housing project in Connecticut, one with cracked cement and trash in many places where we walked.
For our generation it was bellbottoms, crazy daisies and long hair. How we must have driven our parents and teachers crazy. When’s the last time you found a picture of yourself from way back when and wondered, “What was I thinking?” Preteens today are no different. They have their styles and fashions, their favorite stores and designers and they are all trying to be unique as they dress to look just like everyone else their age.
When I was much younger, my life was full of adults who lavished attention on me. One elderly couple in the neighborhood spent New Year’s Eve burying pennies in the snow for me to find the next morning. They were investing more than a few pennies. Their example of caring was an important lesson in my life. Today’s children need adults who are willing to invest time, effort and love.
We see many plans, programs, dreams, and goals already set and expect to reach more children, train more teachers, open more doors, translate more materials, and much more. But most important, we seek to love the Lord more, worship Him more, know Him more and serve Him until He returns!
