It was 9:50 on Sunday morning. I was rushing to set up for my class when the mother of one of my students approached me with a heavy heart. “Please, will you talk to Justin? I found out he has been stealing!” The news was hard to believe.
The word Christ had a long and interesting history! In the Old Testament, the Jewish people looked forward to the day when God would send a King He chose to rule the entire world. The Hebrew word for this king was Messiah and means “the anointed (chosen) one.” Later, in the New Testament the word Messiah was translated into the Greek word, Christos. The English word Christ comes from this Greek word.
When God uses His power to cause something to happen on Earth, it’s called a miracle. Christmas is a time lots of people think about God’s miracles. Long ago, God sent an angel from Heaven to announce the birth of His Son, Jesus.
Archaeologists have already made incredible discoveries that agree with many stories and facts in the Bible. Only God knows if other big discoveries will be made. Don’t be surprised, though, if He keeps some important evidence a secret forever.
The perfect and amazing design we see in the world around us is one huge way we know God’s Word is true. The Bible says God created the heavens and the earth. It’s true-our universe is so complex and wonderful only God could do it.
