Job Description

CEF of Pikes Peak is looking for teens, college age, and adults (14 and up) to be trained for summer missions in the Colorado Springs area for Christian Youth in Action Summer Missions 2009 (CYIA 2009).  Missionaries will learn to share the Gospel with young children through engaging bible lessons & stories, fun memory verse activities, and active review games, at the same time building life-long friendships and experiencing a growing relationship with Christ Jesus.

The CYIA Coordinator and Local CEF Director will work with CYIA summer missionaries to raise their support that will cover the costs of their ministry in 2009 as well as their salary for the summer.  CYIA summer missionaries will go through a 2 day local pre-training to ready them for an extensive 8 day state training, and will receive a certificate of completion upon graduation of the training program.  After the training, CYIAers will work in teams of 2-6 conducting 5-Day Clubs for young children in community centers, backyards/homes, vacation bible schools, preschools, etc. for 4 weeks.  At the end of the summer, the local CYIA team will get together to celebrate a job well done with a group activity and dinner.

CYIA missionaries will also be encouraged to continue to use their knowledge and experience in ministry throughout the year either through their own churches, Good News Clubs or other ministry opportunities.   CYIAers, and local ministry leaders will get together at points throughout the year to talk, have some fun, promote Christian Youth in Action and keep each other updated and how God is being glorified through each individual's ministry.
