Praise GOD!  New School Good News Clubs® are Starting this FallOak Street Baptist Church in Burlington is excited to reach children in the neighborhood close to their church, with a new Good News Club at North Hill Elementary.  They’re starting on September 15.  The Superintendent and School Board at Pleasant Valley School district in Bettendorf changed their policies, once they realized it IS legal to have religious groups meeting in their schools, and its illegal NOT to let Good News Clubs in. As a result, two school Good News Clubs will start in LeClaire and Pleasant View Elementary.    Faith Evangelical Free Church in Spirit Lake is recruiting workers to take a Good News Club into the nearby elementary school.  Their training is September 22.  A Good News Club teacher and summer missionary are teaming up to start a new school Club in Waterloo.  Schaller-Crestand in NW Iowa has two ladies trained and ready to start a school Club, as soon as the Superintendent gives permission.  At Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, the students are required to be involved with a Christian ministry each semester. CEF was at their Christian Service Expo on August 31, and 19 students signed up to find out more about helping with a school Good News Club.  Three of the students have CEF experience, which is very helpful.  We can pray that a Good News Club will get started in the elementary school closest to campus.   New Good News Clubs always start with a series of Bible lessons called Do What’s Right, with lessons about 5 Bible characters who obeyed God. They’re actually teaching Character Education, based on Biblical principles. If you’ve been in an elementary school lately, Character Education is a big topic. In most schools, there are large posters in the hallways that promote Honesty, Respect, Anti-Bullying, Kindness – the same values we teach in Good News Club, based on God’s Word, where the real power is! Every child in Good News Club will receive a Wonder Devotional Book, as we help them develop a daily habit of spending time with God.  Your prayers for Iowa’s Good News Clubs, teachers, helpers, children and parents is greatly appreciated, as the Clubs get started!

If you want to reach children for Christ in public school Good News Clubs, call your local CEF Chapter
