Prison Ministries

prison-guyFor I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.  ~Matthew 25:35-36

Prison Ministry - A ministry for reaching the children of incarcerated prisoners.

CEF has committed to coming alongside the children of inmates to help them have the most promising future possible. These kids are bearing the consequences of their parents' actions. An inmate chooses to walk the wrong path and his/her children often follow.

  • Fact: In 1980 there were 500,000 prisoners in America; in 1990, one million; and today there are 2.1 million prisoner incarcerated in this country.
  • Fact: There are more than seven million children who have a parent under some form of correctional supervision.
  • Fact: According to U.S. Senate Report (Report 106-404 September 8, 2000), children of prisoners are six times more likely than other children to be incarcerated at some point in their lives. Without effective intervention strategies, as many as 70 percent of these children will become involved with the criminal justice system.
  • Fact: We must break the cycle of children of prisoners becoming prisoners themselves. With this critical need in mind, it is our goal to put the What Went Wrong? booklet in the hands of every one of the 2.1 million inmates in this country.

Prayer Requests

Stop and Pray!
Each weekday at 9:00 am CEF Mailbox Club volunteers gather to pray for the kids and prisoners enrolled in Mail Box Club. Will you set aside a specific time to pray too? Drop us a note and let us know you are with us in prayer for the hearts of inmate's children.
