Ft. Hood, Texas
In March 2007, Military Children's Ministry© started After
School Good News Clubs© (ASGNC) in 3 different elementary schools at
Ft. Hood,
Texas.
One mother called, saying, "My son and I were crying together
last night
wondering how we would last my husband's deployment to Iraq. Today
when he brought home the permission
slip for the Bible club, we knew it was God's answer to our prayers.
God will be with us when we are
lonely." Another mom called to express
her strong desire for her two children to attend. She told how she was
raised an Atheist with no joy or hope. She did not want her children
to experience
that, and was so thrilled that this Bible club was being offered.
Ft. Leonard Wood, MO
Ft. Leonard Wood, MO has often been referred to as Fort Lost
in the Woods. Since November 2006, each
month a group of volunteers conducted a three hour program full of Bible
lessons, missionary stories, songs, memory verses, and games called it MOKI,
Moms Out, Kids In. We heard that one
little girl would line her stuffed animals on her bed and teach the lessons and
songs she learned at MOKI. When her mom
asked her what she was doing she said, "Mom, I am having my own MOKI because
once a month is just not enough! Can't
we have more?" Because of lack of
staff, we were not able to conduct summer programs at Ft. Leonard Wood.
Currently
We are currently organizing for the coming school yea! We will train off-post churches and chapel
congregations to conduct ASGNC. There
are five elementary schools signed up for ASGNC's. After we know we have enough teams, the other two schools will be
scheduled. After teaching 10 weeks
on-post, we will assist the churches with outreach into their neighborhood
schools. Because of the success last
year, superintendents of three school districts are eager for the ASGNC program
to be implemented in their schools.
Because of the potential growth at Ft. Hood and the
surrounding areas, I believe we must continue to invest staff and funds into
the area. Ft. Hood is a perfect
location to develop a training facility that CEF & Cadence could use to
send potential workers to receive a well-rounded experience in ministry
programs. We have the support to make
this happen from the Chaplains; we must make every effort make this a reality. Donate Now
Where we are headed
Expansion - We are working strategically to see expansion in
several areas. We are working to continue
to add installations, and as we do so, we must add staff. We are not lacking opportunities to expand the
ministry. The following are a few installations that we are currently
developing: Ft. Bragg, North Carolina,
Ft. Campbell, Tenn., Ft. Carson, Colorado, Naval Base in Everett, Washington,
Fallen Naval Air Station, Nevada, and strategic plans in place to consider San
Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas.Opportunities
Creation of programs and materials that will touch the lives
and issues our military children are facing.
We are in the beginning stages of developing a booklet that will deal
with deployment, moving, developing friendships, and other issues that are of
great concern to the families.
