Frequently Asked Questions: General
Is the
Ministry Staffing Program for everyone seeking employment with Child
Evangelism Fellowship®
(CEF®)?
The Ministry Staffing Program is for those seeking full-time
missionary positions within CEF. This would include both recent high school or
college graduates (see Fast Track to Missions ) and those desiring to change
careers. It is not for part-time missionaries or general office staff.
Missionary positions usually fall into the following categories:
Children's Ministry
Specialist - Minister to
children through Good News Club®, 5-Day Club® and
other outreach.
Ministry Coordinator - Establish, organize and encourage the
club ministries within a local area, helping more unchurched children hear the
Gospel.
Camp Director - Lead a team of staff and volunteers to
make a local Camp Good News® a life-changing experience for
children.
Local Director -
Lead a team of staff and volunteers to make a lasting impact on the next
generation in a local area.
State Director - Lead and develop other CEF
missionaries in a state, helping them fulfill God's call on their lives to
reach children for Christ.
Overseas Missionary - Take the Gospel to a country outside the U.S. Opportunities for overseas ministry are many and varied. More detailed information is available.
Are
all CEF Missionaries supported by donors?
CEF and its missionaries are
funded through the gifts of faithful donors who desire partnership in reaching
the world's children with the Gospel, discipling them in the word of God
and establishing them in a local church.
How does the Ministry Staffing Program help missionaries to raise support?
The Ministry Staffing Program provides training,
coaching and administrative support to missionary candidates. The training is provided during Missionary Candidate School, a two-week intensive course that provides a solid foundation and relevant tools
to equip a missionary candidate to raise 100% of his or her monthly budget. Each
missionary candidate is assigned a Ministry Preparation Coach. This advisor
will assist the candidate through regular accountability, guidance and problem
solving.
How does the Ministry Staffing Program prepare missionaries for ministry?
There are basic ministry
preparation components that all CEF missionaries must complete including
candidate school, support-raising, a year of Bible training or equivalent, the
Children's Ministries Institute® 12 week diploma program, field internship, and other assignments. The Fast Track to
Missions program has additional requirements, including a World Headquarters
internship, two summer ministry assignments and additional assignments including required reading. There are also additional requirements for missionaries preparing to serve internationally including Missionary
Training School as well as language and cultural adaptation training.
Each missionary candidate will
also work with his ministry preparation coach through each ministry preparation step to identify strengths that can
to be further developed and weaknesses that need to be addressed in order for the candidate's ministry
to be as effective as possible. Each
candidate will then work with his or her coach to design and work through a customized ministry
preparation plan that will help to help him or her grow in the identified areas. The results in missionaries adequately prepared to begin serving on the mission field.
