Eight Steps to Full-Time Ministry

j0399741Application and Screening-The individual contacts CEF and is sent an application packet.  Once all parts of the application have been submitted, references will be checked and screening will take place.  Some applicants may know their final place of service at this time.  You can apply online by clicking here.

Hiring Decision-The individual will interview with the MSP hiring committee.  After being hired, the candidate will be assigned a ministry preparation advisor, who will lead him through customized ministry preparation, designed to equip him for the ministry that God has called him to.  Steps will include, but not be limited to, those listed below.

Missionary Candidate School-Each candidate will attend a two-week training school that is offered several times throughout the year.  During this time, the candidate will become more acquainted with CEF ministries and begin raising personal prayer and financial support with the help of his ministry preparation coach.

Raising Personal Support
-The candidate will raise personal prayer and financial support with the help of his ministry preparation coach.  The amount of time required to raise support varies with each candidate, but it is estimated to be 12-18 months.

Bible Training-One year of Bible training (or equivalent) is required for each person who is a part of MSP.   Courses may be taken on the campus of a Christian college or via correspondence.  Individuals can also opt to test out of this requirement.

Children's Ministries Institute® (CMI®)-The candidate will attend this three-month school preparing them to evangelize and disciple children in dynamic outreach ministries, equipping them to teach others, and helping them to build leadership skills.   Training is held at the CEF World Headquarters in Warrenton, Missouri.

Internship-The candidate will enjoy practical training working alongside a CEF missionary.  Internship times are usually 9-18 months in length.

Placement-The candidate will receive assignment and begin his or her ministry in the USA or in another country through CEF International Ministries (IM).
