Chicagoland 08 FAQ: General

What is Good News Across America—Chicagoland ’08?

Chicagoland '08 is a citywide evangelistic campaign where hundreds of Child Evangelism Fellowship® staff, missionaries and trained volunteers will partner with churches to bring God's Word to children.  The CEF® family is planning a three-week "family reunion" in Chicago to serve alongside churches and to help them grow through evangelistic outreach to children.  During the week CEF will also conduct training for the church to prepare them to minister in a public school (or other location where many children congregate) through the Good News Club® ministry .

What dates will this ministry be taking place?

Chicagoland ’08 will begin on  July 22 with four days of training.  Ministry in the Chicago area will take place July 26-August 10.  On August 11, you may choose to tour the city or depart for home.  Those choosing the touring option on August 11 will depart for home on August 12.

Who can participate in Chicagoland ’08?

CEF staff and trained volunteers ages 15 and older may participate.  Participants who are 15-18 years of age must be accompanied by a leader.

Where in Chicago will I be serving?

Ministry teams will be serving in both the inner city and suburbs of Chicago.  There will be a place on your application to indicate your preference.  Team assignments and placement will be based upon age, past ministry experience, the location of partnering churches and prayer.

Will CEF be doing any type of follow-up for the children who are reached through Chicagoland '08?

Each church in Chicago that CEF partners with this summer will be teaching a Good News Club in a public school or housing complex the following year.  There will also be a few short-term (12-18 months) missionaries who will begin to serve in Chicago immediately following Chicagoland '08.  These missionaries will continue to assist the churches that CEF has partnered with and to build up the ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship in the area as a whole.  If you are interested in serving on one of these short-term missionary assignments, please call 1-800-300-4033 and ask for the Recruitment Department.

Where can I get more information about this ministry opportunity?

You can get more information by going to www.cefonline.com or by calling CEF World Headquarters at 1-800-300-4033 and asking for the Recruitment Department.
