The Approach

Ministry Staffing Program

The challenge in finding the best approach to address the problem of declining numbers of staff was to provide fully trained, fully supported and fully equipped missionaries while keeping the control and ministry supervision of the missionary at the state and local levels of leadership. Countless hours of prayer seeking wisdom from God and His direction plus consulting with experts in support raising and soliciting input from the field leadership were all part of the process in the development of the Ministry Staffing Program.

Developing the Approach

  • A team studied how other missions agencies addressed this problem, including CEF International Ministries, Campus Crusade for Christ, Navigators, and others. Taking the best of what worked for these other missions organization, we customized it for CEF and proposed an approach that would:
  1. Implement a stronger funding strategy which includes training, practicums and ongoing coaching
  2. Implement a well defined and coordinated recruitment-to-placement plan that will accommodate candidates who must retain a secular job until support is raised.

Once a proposal was drafted, Reese Kauffman took the proposal to district and state directors in CEF for their input. It is recognized that the success of MSP would require large amounts of input from a diversity of staff to come up with the best solution. Over the course of months, several District, State and Local directors have provided input to help refine the proposal.

The Result

These months of planning and input resulted in the Ministry Staffing Program whose goal is to provide fully trained, fully supported and fully equipped missionaries for States, Local chapters and International regions.
