Frik Van Rensburg, the CEF Regional Director for Southern Africa, gave this testimony about the impact of the Boxes of Books program in Zambia:
"In Zambia, because of Boxes of Books, we have 650 Good News
Clubs. Most of the books are used as lending libraries in the local
offices. Last year, we reached 167,000 children in clubs and
schools. Without Boxes of Books, this would not have been
possible.
"During a visit to Lusaka, the capital, I met a boy who was a street child.
Because of the Good News Club in his area, he is now the worship leader
in his school and church. Boxes of Books were already sent to the club
and they will start using them in the next month. Before that, they had
to use materials they made themselves.
"One lady, trained by CEF, opened
more than 300 clubs during the time Boxes of Books came into being. She
is a volunteer worker and numerous times had to move to a cheaper house
because all her money is spent in traveling to the clubs. She would not
be able to do all this without Boxes of Books. We have five full-time
workers that do not receive any financial support, but they still do
clubs. They are not able to buy a book, but because of Boxes of
Books they are able to go on with their clubs."
CEF specializes in producing outstanding full color Bible story visuals for workers as they present the Gospel to children’s groups and clubs around the world. In many developing countries CEF trained workers have little or no literature. Most live on a basic income of $200 to $300 per month; there are no extras.
Boxes of Books provides visualized Bible lessons and songs to these dedicated workers so they can use them to reach more children with the Gospel.
A gift of $50 sends about $100 worth of CEF teaching materials to a developing country to be used by CEF trained workers and volunteers.
