Reaching Even the Outcasts
They are overlooked. Neglected. Outcasts to all but their own. But 12 years ago, Barna Kovacs, a CEF® worker in Romania, began a Good News Club® for Gypsy children in the village of Acas in Romania.

A Partnership For Today
"How come nobody ever told us that God has so many chairs in His house?" the boy called out as he and his brother ran down the church aisle.

Michael and his brother had been attending Good News Club at an elementary school the church had adopted. Church members worked alongside the local Child Evangelism Fellowship staff to reach children in their neighborhood with the Gospel. And the message was taking hold!

Now Michael and his family had come to church for the first time. After the service the boys' mother said, I'm at my wit's end with Michael. We've never been to church before. This is the only thing we haven't tried. We're here and we're going to see if it works. If it doesn't, I'm giving my son up to the state.

The church welcomed the family with love and support. In just a year and a half God turned their lives around. Both boys received Christ as their Savior and the mother rededicated her life to Him. At the mother's invitation 15 other people now attend this church!

Similar Scenarios Spread.

Because of the partnership between CEF and churches, similar scenarios are developing across the nation.

Local CEF workers train church volunteers and give them a vision for reaching their community. CEF assists churches with ongoing or one-time events and equips them to easily and effectively share the Gospel with children.

One Sunday school coordinator says, Our local CEF has been a great help to our new church. Two of our young people were trained by them and taught VBS, party clubs and childrens church. Its been tremendous to have workers trained and willing to teach. In addition our local CEF director led a special seminar on how to lead a child to Christ for all our childrens workers. CEF has enabled us to have a quality childrens program where unsaved children can respond to the Gospel and saved children can grow in their relationship with Christ.

CEF works hand in hand with the church--whether new or established, small or large. A pastor in West Virginia writes, The Good News Club has been a blessing for our church. Just the other day while I was having lunch, a man stopped and thanked me for bringing the club to his children's school. The club has boosted the reputation of the church in our community and a number of new families are attending because of it."

CEF exists to come alongside the local church. With 344 local CEF chapters across the U.S. and many workers around the world, that helping hand may be near you!
