Unedited diary from CEF workers in Boston...
7/29/2010--We have reached 1300 children in the first 2 days of Boston 10. One of the teams shared that the field was empty when they arrived at the club location. The day before they had invited 3 kids on bikes to come the next day. The team got on their knees and prayed that God would bring children to the park. They looked up and 11 boys showed up on bikes. At the end of the club 10 of the 11 boys received Christ. PTL
7/28/2010--Thanking God for the opportunity to minister to children from many countries right here in Boston! At one club there are three children from Kenya that speak only Swahili. Another boy in a different 5-Day Club is also from Kenya and speaks Swahili and English. Arrangements have been made to for him translate for the Swahili speaking children at the other club. Clubs being taught in Portuguese and Spanish are also underway.
7/26/2010--Please pray earnestly for the 29 teams ministry across Boston today. Ask God to bring children to the club that need to know about Jesus Christ. Pray for souls to be delivered from the dominion of darkness and for our missionaries as they have long days ahead of them.
7/25/2010--Sunday was the day for the teams to visit the churches they are partnering with this week. We also trained the church volunteers that will be helping us during clubs. One 15 year old teen that received the training said after to his mom “After seeing the teen missionaries I know the children will listen to them better ...than an adult. These teens will be the children’s heros. I want to do this next summer.”
7/24/2010--Friday was day 4 of the Boston 10 training. It included training sessions such as, Understanding Urban Ministry. In the afternoon teams paired to practice a club. The day ended with a special meeting closing the training and a challenge from the Word of God, followed by ice cream Sunday. Saturday is a day of rest (slee...p in, sightseeing, laundry, etc.). Sunday begins the ministry with the churches.
7/23/2010--Day 3 of training (Thursday) included more classes. In the afternoon all the teams traveled to their assigned churches and joined up with some church volunteers to go to the three club locations and give out invitations in the community. We ended the day back at the college with worship and testimonies about what God did yesterday. Praise God.
Some of the testimonies were…
“The church our team is partnering with is a church of 70/80 people. In preparation for Boston 10 they have remodeled and prepared a couple of rooms for children for their new children’s program.”
“A lot of volunteers from the church helped pass out invitations in the neighborhoods.”
“A public pool allowed the CEF workers to go in twice (without charge) to give out invitations to the children. Several lifeguards were excited about giving invitations to their younger siblings.”
“The volunteers from a very small church that has no children (their youngest person is 17) are so excited to reach the children in their community for Christ.”
“When our team arrived in the inner-city Boston we went to the projects to give out invitations. My team members were running around all over the place with great excitement giving out the invitations.”
“Our team members spoke about the clubs to children, teens and adults. As it was time to go back to the van we spoke to three adults that were talking by the side of the road. One gentlemen said, ‘if you turn right and then a left, you will get to a street with lots of kids.’ We decided to do just that and sure enough we spoke to lots of kids and parents about the club next week and they were so excited to hear about it.”

7/22/2010--Yesterday was a great day. Some of the subjects covered in the training were: Preparing The Partnering Church, Being Street Smart, CEF Mailbox Club and Wonderzone, Team Time, etc. We finished the day with a Boston Harbor Cruise. It was a sight to see over 160 Good News Across America gray T-shirts traveling through subway & walking in downtown Boston. Gathered on the platform in the subway CEF workers were singing choruses and doing action songs. Here and there you would see CEF workers holding their Wordless Books witnessing. The weather was cooler. Today we go door to door in the 5-Day Club sites inviting children to come to club next week.
An experienced CEF worker shares that the young missionaries are amazing. They are "so committed, so willing and so enthusiastic. They are totally into it and are with the program."
The Boston Baptist College campus is lovely. The 160 team members used a field to practice their lessons and high-octane games.
The weather has cooled off and we are grateful for the answer to prayer!
7/20/2010--Over 160 workers from 27 states are staying at Boston Baptist College. Today is the first day of training. Some of the subjects covered today are, making 5-Day Club High Octane, daily resources to give out during 5-DCs, Rally at the churches, and lots of Team Time. Today God gave us cooler temps which is an answer to prayer as the College does not have AC. Thanks for praying.
