When God Calls a Family
By Stephanie York
It always amazes me how one person’s faithfulness to follow God can have such a large ripple effect, impacting their entire family. In 2008 my husband, Andrew, started working for Child Evangelism Fellowship® as an intern for the Information Technology department, but this wasn’t the beginning of his CEF® story! Andrew’s history with CEF starts with his grandparents. In 1998 Dean and Marilyn Bahre started serving at CEF—Dean as a cook in the kitchen and Marilyn as a financial assistant in International Ministries. The Bahres encouraged their son-in-law and daughter, Ron and Dee York, to pray about moving from Indiana to serve in this global mission. Ron and Dee prayed about the decision; moving three small children—Amanda, Andrew, and Zachary—to a new state and starting a new career would be no small change. After feeling God’s calling to proceed, they packed up and moved to Missouri in 2001. Since then, God has allowed each of the Yorks to serve at CEF in some capacity. Ron and Dee both still serve at CEF—Ron as the Executive Director of Support Services and Dee as a Customer Service sales representative. Zachary serves as a logistics assistant, and Andrew and I continue to serve as well. It is awesome to now be a part of the legacy that God has created through this small family from Indiana.
