Bringing Hope to Kids in the City
Cities are important. They are the population centers of our country, and often they are also centers of spiritual need. In cities all across the USA, there are children who need to hear about Jesus, and CEF® wants to effectively bring the Gospel to each of these cities. Melvyn Bassett served on the International Board of Trustees for CEF for many years, and he had a strong passion and burden for our cities. He would often share that burden at Board meetings and say that we must reach our cities and the kids in them. Upon Melvyn’s death, the International Board of Trustees established the MetroHope Fund in memory of Melvyn Bassett and his passion to reach city kids.
Child Evangelism Fellowship® has selected Chicago and Washington, D.C. as our two focus cities in the first phase of implementing the fund. Our hope is to establish and strengthen ministry in Chicago and D.C., and to see the transformative power of the Gospel at work in the lives of the next generation.
