Big Picture

A Thousand Hills

“For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills” (Psalm 50:10 ESV).

Of all the wonderful verses in God’s Word, are there any greater verses than ones like Psalm 50:10? God owns everything we see, hear, taste, touch, feel, and sense! And we own nothing. Absolutely nothing. 1 Timothy 6:7 (ESV) says, “…for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.”

So why do so many people spend their lives investing in things that do not last? Or work so hard to hang on to things they cannot keep? And why is it so hard for us to trust God for things we or the ministry may need, if He owns it all anyway?

Do you have a plan in place for when God miraculously blesses your chapter with $500k and 30 new staff? How differently would you operate Child Evangelism Fellowship® ministry than you do now?

If you say, “God wouldn’t do that!” then you have just limited God and put Him in a box. How do you know He doesn’t want to bless His own work?

We don’t have money problems in CEF®; we have faith problems. My apologies for being so blunt. I’m convinced that most Christians are afraid to fully rely on God to bless us.

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him” (2 Chronicles 16:9 ESV).

If you truly believe that verse, then why is it difficult to believe that you could be that person with a blameless heart? And that God would give you strong support?

Jesus Himself said, “Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” (Luke 18:8 ESV).

Where is our faith? He owns it all. He told us He desires to support us. So where’s our faith?

How can we possibly be effective leaders without strong faith in what God says?

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6 ESV).

Father, teach us to pray and increase our faith! In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
