Child Evangelism Fellowship® is a Bible-centered organization composed of born-again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living.
The Local Director of CEF of Kentucky, Greater Louisville Chapter is responsible for fulfilling the purpose of Child Evangelism Fellowship Inc., executing the vision of the state board and USA Ministries while overseeing all aspects of the local chapter.
Local Ministry
- Understand the foundation of ministry is prayer. You will lead by example, committed to implementing, and growing an effective local prayer program.
- Aggressively pursue church partnerships which will fulfill the purpose of CEF.
- Evangelize, disciple and establish the next generation to God and His church.
- Be able to identify, recruit, and disciple others to become an effective team, serving God in this ministry.
- Be involved in a minimum level of direct ministry with children to maintain an understanding of today’s child and to adequately evaluate the effectiveness of CEF programs such as Good News Club®.
- Be able to identify students (grades 9 – college) who may be potential Christian Youth In Action® candidates.
- Personally participate in CYIA as assigned by state leadership, and assist in the success of the CYIA program.
- Develop, and enhance ministry effectiveness throughout the chapter.
Local Leadership
- Work with the local committee in accomplishing strategic plans for evangelizing and discipling all children within the chapter, striving to establish them with local churches.
- Meet regularly with ministry staff and volunteers to provide encouragement, counsel, and direction.
- Assist ministry staff and volunteers in evaluating and achieving their ministry goals.
- Encourage the local committee to complete committee training.
- Work with the local committee in raising sufficient funds for the ministry.
- Annually assess ministry staff.
- Recognize and advance leadership skills in ministry staff, volunteers, and summer missionaries.
- Oversee and routinely evaluate the teacher training program.
Administrative
- Inspect staff for compliance of all CEF policies and procedures.
- Maintain proper governance.
- Keep accurate and complete records.
- Collaborate with the local committee to develop an annual budget. Submit budget to the state director for state board approval to be implemented January 1 annually.
- Ensure that all reports, minutes, communications, money, and donor receipts are submitted as required.
- Communicate accurately about the chapter condition to the state director and local committee.
- Attend all state-office-sponsored meetings as requested by the state director or board.
Qualifications
We are seeking a committed servant of God who is walking daily with Him and demonstrates great faith and exemplary Christian character. We want someone who exuberates a friendly and cheerful disposition. The candidate must confidently believe in God’s calling on their life. Prayer will be a daily practice. The chosen leader will have a passion for reaching children with the Gospel and desire to serve the local church. The prescribed requirements for this position, are as follows:
- Demonstrate leadership qualities as found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
- Radiate love for Jesus Christ and prayer with an unquestionable passion to reach kids with the Gospel.
- Have a growth mindset as a continual learner. Maintain relevancy, while strategizing as a team.
- Ambitious to lead and build a team that is diverse in skills, experience and culture.
- Love people and the local church.
- Value other Christian organizations as ministry partners.
- Identify other leaders, organize groups, cast vision and evaluate programs.
- Complete one year of Bible college training. (In some cases, candidates may be allowed to test out of this requirement. Qualification can be fulfilled for free at biblicaltraining.org)
- Possess basic competency in computer technology, such as Microsoft.
- Successfully complete the 12-week Children’s Ministries Institute within the first two years of ministry, including a mentorship program.
- Collaborate with the committee to raise needed financial support.

The local missionary director will develop the ministries of Child Evangelism Fellowship® within the Greater Louisville metro area. This person will be a team player, self-motivated, able to plan, analyze, motivate people and demonstrate organizational skills. The local director is ultimately a developer of volunteers and other leaders and is the face of the local chapter.
This large chapter includes the city of Louisville and a seven county metro area. There are over a million people in this chapter, including hundreds of thousands of children and many refugees from all over the world! A local committee is in place and ministry is currently underway, with just one paid staff member. The need is great, with outstanding potential for pioneering and growth!
