ST. LOUIS — Of the more than 8 billion people alive in the world today, an estimated 3.42 billion of them live in unreached people groups with little or no access to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
“There are over 2 billion children in the world,” said Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF) President, Jeremiah Cho. “Children are the world’s most fruitful mission field. Our goal is to reach 100 million children annually by 2032.”
To accomplish this, CEF has developed a roadmap using ministries as highways to reach boys and girls with the Gospel.
CEF offers a strategic, intentional year-round approach to impact children for Christ. This approach is described in the booklet “Highways to Reach 100 Million Children.” CEF’s ministries open a world of opportunities for volunteers and churches to learn how they can reach children in their communities and play a part in this vital global ministry.
“With hundreds of thousands of workers worldwide, we are well on the way to our long-term goal of sharing the Good News of the Gospel with 100 million children,” says CEF Vice President of Administration, Fred Pry. “CEF has the strategy and structure in place to do this and already works in nearly every nation.”
For more than 85 years, God has given CEF a number of unique ministries that have proven to be effective tools in our effort to evangelize and disciple children. Moreover, CEF believes the Lord has outlined seven strategic highways to reach 100 million children annually by 2032.
1. Christmas Party Club®: This highway presents the Gospel to churched and unchurched children. Through a Christmas Party Club, churches work alongside CEF to reach children with the true story of Christmas. The goal is to move children from Christmas Party Clubs to a Good News Club.
2. Good News Club®: Trained teachers meet with groups of children in schools, homes, community centers, churches, and just about anywhere the children can easily and safely go to learn about the Gospel.
3. 5-Day Club® and Christian Youth In Action® (CYIA™): Children hear the Gospel at 5-Day Club while on their school break through Bible lessons, learning activities, missionary stories, songs, and Scripture memorization. This ministry is multiplied as CYIA trains teams of young people in effective and engaging ways who then teach these clubs.
4. Children Reaching Children: This ministry is focused on equipping saved children to share the Gospel with their peers through the Go and Tell! training program. The interactive program teaches Gospel truths using color-based tools, provides witnessing materials, and includes group instruction, small groups, and partner practice.
5. Junior Youth Challenge®: This ministry is an evangelistic and discipleship ministry for young people ages 11-14. It bridges the gap between Good News Club and the Christian Youth In Action (CYIA) program and encourages young people to go on to serve in CEF ministry through CYIA.
6. U-Nite® Digital Ministry: Kids can stream animated adventures and podcast episodes that teach truths from the Bible. Content is free, safe and can be downloaded so children can listen anytime and anywhere!
7. Global Literature Distribution: These “paper missionaries” can go where people often cannot: into homes, schools, and distant places we may never reach ourselves. Through intentional and widespread distribution in 93 languages, we can place the Good News directly into the hands of children.
Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), which was founded 88 years ago, has been establishing the Good News Club in countries around the world for decades. Clubs are thriving worldwide, in countries including Australia, Cambodia, Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uganda and many more.
In 2024, through the combined ministries of CEF, more than 31 million children worldwide were impacted for Christ. More than 533,000 teachers were trained around the world to reach children.
