Fred Pry, CEF® Vice President of Administration: ‘The Good News Club® brings the life-changing message of the Gospel to the neighborhood schools, connecting children to others where they live’
ST. LOUIS — This week, millions of children will return to school, as families resume the fast-paced schedules that shape a child’s week. For boys and girls, one highlight is the Good News Club®, a weekly community-based program offered by Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF®) for 5–12-year-olds. Each action-packed club includes an engaging Bible lesson, upbeat songs, powerful memory verses and fun games.
In addition, says CEF Vice President of Administration Fred Pry, “Each club includes a clear presentation of the Gospel and an opportunity for children to trust the Lord Jesus as Savior. The program also includes strong discipleship training to build character and increase moral and spiritual growth.”
Today, Good News Clubs can be found throughout the U.S and beyond.
Pry remarked, “Good News Clubs are in more than 3,300 school-based locations around the United States and many thousands more around the world.”
One such location is Palau, an island nation in the western Pacific Ocean. CEF’s National Director in Palau shared, “Recently, I went to one of the small islands in Angaur, Palau, that can only be reached by plane or ship. I had only one hour to locate kids and teach the club, because we needed to go back on the same plane. One of my students helped me gather the children. We were able to find seven in a short time! The kids and I climbed up into a treehouse to have the club there.
“It was fun, and the kids enjoyed the games and Bible lesson. At the end of the lesson, I shared the Gospel through “The Wordless Book.” All seven of them understood the message of Salvation and received Jesus in their hearts! They asked me to come back there, so I will continue the ministry by flying in once a month.”
A missionary in Palau shared their story: “I arrived in Palau just over a month ago from Canada as a missionary with Mission Aviation Fellowship. I received an invitation through our church to attend the annual ‘Party Club™ Seminar’ put on by Child Evangelism Fellowship. Having only been in Palau for a brief time, it was a blessing, encouragement and opportunity to meet other believers in our area who share a burden for reaching the lost.
“The speakers did an excellent job presenting practical helps and tools on how to reach kids with the Gospel, memorize scripture and more. I was impacted and inspired to see others’ deep desire to be a light for Jesus wherever they are and to take every opportunity to share the GOOD NEWS, and disciple those who give their lives to Christ. It was an honor to meet the CEF National Director and to hear her story of God’s call to reach children with His love. I am so grateful for the good work CEF does in helping to better equip and train people to reach kids for God’s glory.”
A representative from Angaur Island Good News Club stated, “Thank God for the partnership with CEF. I was able to fly there once a month from March through May and reached 10-14 children from this small, populated island. The children there are very faithful and teachable. I also started teaching ‘Living God’s Way.’ Please pray that they will continue to change their ways and live the right way.”
Pry summarized, “The Good News Club brings the life-changing message of the Gospel to the neighborhood — whether that neighborhood is here or abroad — connecting children to others where they live, which impacts the community.”
